What You'll Discover

My name is Matt Vistnes, and I believe that everyone has a unique sound waiting to be unleashed. Whether you're picking up a guitar for the first time, refining advanced techniques, exploring your vocal abilities, or diving into music production, I’m here to help you discover your sound and unlock your musical potential.

With over 15 years of playing and teaching experience, along with training in Guitar, Vocal Performance, and Audio Engineering from the Musicians Institute, I bring a well-rounded approach to helping musicians thrive at every stage of their journey.

From performing in bands and cover groups to releasing original music on Spotify, I’ve learned the power of connection through music. These experiences shape my teaching, ensuring every lesson inspires creativity, confidence, and growth.

My lessons are about more than just technique - they’re about giving you the freedom to express yourself, the confidence to grow, and the joy of discovering your unique voice, whether it’s through guitar, vocals, songwriting, or music production. Whether you’re a 10-year-old starting from scratch, a young adult chasing your dream of performing, or someone rekindling a long-lost passion, I tailor every lesson to fit your goals and inspire your growth.

This is more than music - it’s your journey. Let's take it together!

See What's Possible

“Since I can remember, I always wanted to play guitar like the rockstars I would see on TV and in movies. When I was 13 years old, I got my first guitar and started doing lessons with Matt online. I loved his way of teaching from the first day. I remember Matt would teach me the songs I wanted to learn and I could play some of my favorite songs faster than I ever thought possible. The speed of progression I was getting from Matt's lessons made my passion for music and guitar my whole world. I still play guitar every day three and a half years later and my passion for music is still burning. I truly could not have done any of it without Matt. I thank him for the progress I ave made in my guitar journey.”

"Matt is an exceptional teacher. He is always on time, professional, kind, and patient. Through my guitar, voice and songwriting lessons with him, my technical skill has improved dramatically and my confidence has grown by miles. He has a gift for understanding exactly what a student needs and how they learn best, and being able to adjust his teaching approach accordingly. Matt really cares about his students and their progress and I always feel comfortable to make mistakes in my lessons with him so we can work together on growing them into victories and celebrating the progress together. He also continuously works on his own craft and has a passion for learning, which really shines through in how knowledgeable he is. I highly recommend Matt to students of any age and skill!

Matt is an incredibly attentive teacher who puts fastidious care into providing the most engaging and motivating lessons possible. Prior to working with Matt on the guitar, I had absolutely zero musical background; while it would be incredibly easy for me to quit my lessons having had zero musical knowledge, dexterity, or musical confidence at 22 years old, Matt helped me learn five songs that I enjoyed to help me find a rewarding incentive to keep on with my lessons. Always asking what music I liked, Matt never imposed his own musical biases on me and is the quintessential novice teacher.”
